How does the rental process work?

The rental process at Houston Luxury Car Rental is designed to be clear, secure, and fully transparent. After speaking with an HLCR representative and selecting your vehicle and desired rental dates, we will request a copy of your driver’s license (front and back), proof of full-coverage insurance (see “What are the insurance requirements?” below), along with your email address and phone number. Once your insurance has been verified, we will send you a rental agreement via email for electronic signature (or you may sign in person at our office). Upon signing, the security deposit is required to confirm and secure your reservation. For same-day rentals, both the security deposit and full rental fee are due prior to vehicle pickup. Advance reservations are not confirmed until the security deposit is received. The security deposit also serves as your reservation fee and will be fully applied toward the refundable security deposit upon compliant return of the vehicle. Reservations are fully refundable if canceled within 24 hours of placing the security deposit. After 24 hours, the deposit converts to store credit and expires after 180 days.

How old do I have to be to rent a vehicle?

Minimum age requirements vary by vehicle. Most vehicles may be rented starting at age 18. However, our exclusive high-horsepower supercars and select luxury vehicles require a minimum age of 30. Please contact an HLCR representative for the exact age requirement on your chosen vehicle.

What are the insurance requirements?

All renters and authorized drivers must maintain full-coverage insurance on their personal policy that extends to the rented vehicle. This must include comprehensive/collision coverage and liability protection that meets or exceeds the vehicle’s value. If you do not have sufficient insurance, we can refer you to a local independent insurance agent who can provide the necessary coverage at their standard rates. Houston Luxury Car Rental is not affiliated with these agents in any way and receives no compensation from them; they are an independent third party.

What is the security deposit?

Security deposits vary by vehicle and rental specifics. Deposits range from $1,000 to $5,000 and are determined based on the vehicle selected, rental duration, mileage allowance, insurance coverage, and other transaction details. The deposit is held as security and is fully refundable upon return of the vehicle in accordance with our rental policies.

How can I pay?

We accept payments via major debit or credit cards, cash, Zelle, or wire transfer. As of January 1, 2026, personal checks and cashier’s checks are no longer accepted. All forms of payment are subject to applicable taxes and processing fees.

Question 6

Can I leave the city or state?

Accepted Answer

All rentals are restricted to the state of Texas. Travel outside the greater Houston area to Austin, Dallas, or San Antonio is permitted only for select vehicles and only with explicit prior written approval from an HLCR representative, which must be documented on your rental agreement. Travel outside the state of Texas is strictly prohibited. Any unauthorized travel will result in the complete forfeiture of your security deposit, in addition to any other applicable fees or charges.
